The Construction Process:
From Trees to Keys

Sky Lake Construction works in tandem with its two sister companies - M & R Builders and Sky Lake Realty
to complete the building process. Each company plays a unique role in our home-building process. Understanding the process can help the buyer set realistic expectations about the timeline for move-in day.

Phase 1: Planning and Development

planning-and-development-icon.jpg

The planning and entitlement process is the first step of any subdivision development and it can take anywhere from 3 months to a year. Then, development begins with the clearing of the land and utilities ran. Then, roads and curbs are poured. This takes anywhere from 120 - 190 days. M & R Builders is our development company that is responsible for this phase of development.

Step 2: Construction

The construction phase of the building process is done by Sky Lake Construction. The process begins with selecting the floor plan that is best suited for the particular lots and then the exterior features, such as the foundation, framing, and laying the bricks begins. Once that is complete, the next steps are to install interior features, such as flooring, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, doors, lights, etc. This whole process typically takes between 90 - 120 days.

Step 3: Real Estate

Sky Lake Realty typically has move-in ready homes and lots available for pre-sale in most of our subdivisions. A buyer selects the home or lot and floor plan they want to purchase and a contract is signed. If the home is move-in ready, there is typically 30 days between the contract being signed and the closing date. If the contract is for a pre-sale home then it will be 90 - 120 days of construction plus any additional days needed for the legal and financial teams to do their part before move-in day.
